President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has began a restructuring of his government with merging of two Ministries and the scrapping of two others.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga on Wednesday announced that the President and the Federal Executive Council has approved the scrapping of the Ministry of Niger Delta and Ministry of Sports.
According to the Presidential Spokesperson, there will now be a ministry of regional development to oversee all the regional development commissions, such as the Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission , North East Development Commission and the South East Development Commission.
Mr. Bayo Onanuga further revealed that the National Sports Commission will take over the role of the Ministry of Sports.
The FEC also approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.
With this decisions, the stage may be set for a cabinet reshuffle.
