The Federal Government of Nigeria has issued a stern warning to the public regarding fraudulent recruitment letters currently being disseminated on social media platforms. These fake documents claim to offer job opportunities within the country’s paramilitary services, targeting vulnerable job seekers.
According to an official statement released on Tuesday by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board, the Board’s Secretary, AM Jibril, clarified the situation. He confirmed that while the President has granted approval for recruitment into the four paramilitary services under the Board’s supervision, the recruitment exercise itself has not yet begun.
The Board emphasized that all authentic recruitment announcements will be made exclusively through national newspapers and other verified communication channels. Importantly, the statement reassures the public that no fees will be demanded at any stage of the recruitment process.
“The attention of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has been drawn to a letter in circulation on social media with respect to its recruitment process. To this effect, members of the public should be wary of recruitment racketeers who may try to take advantage of unsuspecting job seekers to rob them of their hard-earned resources,” the statement warns.
This alert comes amid increasing reports of scams targeting job seekers in Nigeria, urging citizens to exercise caution and verify all recruitment information through official sources.
