Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State took part in the local government elections on Saturday by voting at Polling Unit 006, Ward E, at St. Stephens Nursery and Primary School in Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island. His wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, accompanied him, highlighting the family’s active participation in the democratic process.
Voting commenced at 8 a.m. with residents selecting their preferred candidates for chairman and councillors in the Lagos Island Local Government Area. The governor arrived at the polling station around 11 a.m. to cast his ballot, underscoring the importance of the election.
Sanwo-Olu’s media aide, Jubril Gawat, was also present and voted earlier in the day. The election is conducted simultaneously across Lagos State’s 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas, a critical step in ensuring local governance is responsive and representative.
