Former Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has announced his decision to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and economic reforms.
In a lengthy post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Murray-Bruce praised President Tinubu’s understanding of governance and finance, describing him as a visionary leader focused on results rather than popularity.
“I have known President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu since 1998. I know the man’s mind, his courage, and his conviction,” the former senator wrote. “He is not driven by applause, he is driven by results. And today, I can boldly say to you that he is on the right track.”
According to Murray-Bruce, Tinubu’s administration represents “the first time in our nation’s history we have a President who truly understands finance.” He noted that the President views the economy not as “a political slogan, but as a living organism that must be disciplined, deregulated, and allowed to breathe.”
The former lawmaker from Bayelsa State commended the government’s ongoing reforms, stating that “the painful reforms we face today are the very foundation of tomorrow’s prosperity.” He described the current transition as a move toward “a free-market economy that rewards hard work and innovation instead of dependency and distortion.”
Highlighting progress under the Tinubu administration, Murray-Bruce said the appointment of the National Security Adviser had “redefined our national safety architecture,” while insecurity was being “quietly and systematically dismantled.”
He also lauded the Central Bank’s efforts in restoring economic confidence, saying: “The Central Bank, now professionally steered, is stabilizing the economy, rebuilding confidence, and restoring the dignity of the naira.”
On foreign policy, he remarked that Nigeria’s global image was improving. “Our foreign policy is again respected. Our fuel supply is deregulated. We will never again live through the humiliation of fuel scarcity,” he wrote, adding that “the numbers are beginning to speak, investments are returning, and the world is watching Nigeria rise again.”
Murray-Bruce further applauded Tinubu’s infrastructural initiatives, describing them as “unprecedented.” He said, “From massive road networks to modernized ports, airports, and housing schemes springing up across the nation, these developments are the arteries through which growth and opportunity now flow.”
Acknowledging the current economic hardships faced by Nigerians, the former senator said reforms were necessary for long-term progress. “I know it is still a difficult season for many families. But as history teaches, reform is never painless. Yet, it is in these moments of sacrifice that nations are reborn,” he stated.
Explaining his reason for joining the APC, Murray-Bruce said it was “not for politics, but for progress,” expressing faith in Tinubu’s leadership. “Because I believe that Bola Tinubu’s leadership, guided by courage and intellect, will deliver the Nigeria we have all dreamed of,” he declared.
He concluded his post with a bold prediction: “Mark my words: in the full term of eight years, Nigeria will witness phenomenal growth. I choose to stand with that vision. I choose to stand with reform. I choose to stand with the future.”
