The ICPC has submitted an interim report to President Bola Tinubu, exactly 30 days after he ordered a probe into the fraudulent Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC). ICPC Chairman Musa Aliyu disclosed this on Thursday after briefing Mr Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The commission recommended the prosecution of self‑proclaimed Director‑General Adeniyi Adeyemi for forgery, impersonation, and related offences. Investigations established that Adeyemi was never appointed by the Federal Government, and PFIPC was never created by any law or valid government instrument. His appointment letter, gazette, and supporting documents were all forged.
The fake agency unlawfully occupied the former Presidential Economic Advisory Council’s office after locks were broken. The ICPC also uncovered two more fictitious agencies created by Adeyemi the FCT Investment Promotion Agency and the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency and Public Private Partnership, using forged legislative instruments to open bank accounts. No federal funds were disbursed to the schemes. The commission recommended administrative sanctions against public officials whose negligence enabled the operation, while investigations continue to identify collaborators.
