Troops and police in Edo State killed a suspected kidnapper and rescued farmer Lucky Egbiki, 50, during a ransom sting on August 6. The team exploited negotiations to lure the gang to Ozigholo, where a lone collector showed up and promptly got neutralized.
His fleeing comrades dumped the farmer and bolted into the forest, likely with fresh bullet wounds. Security forces recovered the full N1.5 million ransom, meaning the gang walked away with absolutely nothing but a corpse to show for their trouble.
Egbiki, snatched from his farm in Okhuesan, was handed over to his family unharmed after a medical check. The Army is now hunting the remaining losers who fled empty-handed.
