Nigeria’s Social Democratic Party (SDP) has kicked out its past National Chairman Shehu Gabam, who is close to ex-Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai. They also removed National Youth Leader Chukwuma Uchechukwu and National Auditor Clarkson Nnadi. The reason is claims of money mishandling, misuse of power, and bad behavior.
Party leaders made the call public on Thursday. This came after the National Working Committee (NWC) approved results from a special review panel and a final report.
National Publicity Secretary Rufus Aiyenigba said the step followed a long probe. Gabam and the group were first put on hold on June 24 when early signs of money problems showed up.
A review team started work on July 4. They looked into things for two weeks and gave their report on July 18. The NWC okayed it on August 15, which led to the full removal. SDP heads say this will bring back clear rules and order in the party.
