President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Ude, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) from Enugu State, as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The President’s request was contained in a letter sent to the Senate and read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Tuesday’s plenary session.
Following the announcement, Akpabio referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for screening and confirmation.
Ude’s nomination comes after the resignation of Uche Nnaji, the former Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, who stepped down last month following a controversy over alleged certificate forgery.
Nnaji, who was the only minister from Enugu State in the current administration, was accused of presenting questionable academic and NYSC credentials. His exit left Enugu State without representation in the Federal Executive Council.
Dr. Ude currently serves as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State. He was recently conferred with the prestigious title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in recognition of his contributions to the legal profession.
If confirmed by the Senate, Ude will fill the vacancy created by Nnaji’s resignation and restore Enugu State’s representation in President Tinubu’s cabinet.
