The Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, has praised the Federal Government’s ongoing infrastructure development efforts, describing the bridge project in Benue State as a major investment that will improve connectivity, stimulate commerce, and enhance the lives of residents.
Onanuga made the remarks during the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Tour while inspecting the ongoing bridge project in Benue State.
Speaking during the inspection, Onanuga said the bridge is the fifth bridge currently being constructed by the Federal Government across Benue State as part of the administration’s infrastructure agenda.
He noted that while the government has faced criticism over borrowing, projects such as the bridge demonstrate that the funds are being invested in critical infrastructure that delivers long-term economic benefits.
“You can see where the money is going—into developing infrastructure that connects communities that were previously neglected, improves the movement of people and goods, and supports economic activities,” he said.
According to him, the bridge will significantly reduce travel time between communities, improve access between rural areas and urban centres, and provide farmers with easier routes to transport agricultural produce to markets.
Onanuga added that the project would also strengthen regional connectivity, linking Benue with neighbouring Taraba and Adamawa states and improving transportation across Nigeria’s North Central and North-East corridors.
Describing the project as “magnificent,” the presidential aide expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and sought assurances on its financing.
He revealed that officials informed him there were no funding challenges, as the project is being financed through the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund.
“There’s no funding problem. They are being financed by the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund, which means the funds are available, and the project should be completed on schedule,” he said.
He expressed confidence that the bridge would deliver lasting economic and social benefits to the people of Benue State and the surrounding regions upon completion.
