President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in Saturday’s governorship election.
Accord Party chieftain, Pelumi Olajengbesi, disclosed this at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation centre in Osogbo, saying the President personally called Adeleke to congratulate him.
According to Olajengbesi, Tinubu also deserves commendation for allowing the election to proceed without interference and for keeping his promise to ensure a free electoral process.
“The President congratulated Governor Adeleke last night,” he said.
Adeleke, the Accord candidate, was declared winner after polling 511,067 votes, defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who secured 444,815 votes.
However, Olajengbesi faulted aspects of the election, saying while the poll could be described as credible, it was not entirely free and fair due to violent incidents recorded before and during the exercise.
