President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated his Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Basheer Lado, on his 60th birthday, commending his contributions to lawmaking, public administration and humanitarian service.
In a congratulatory message issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Lado as a dependable public servant and accomplished legislator whose experience has continued to strengthen relations between the Executive and the Senate.
Lado, who turns 60 on October 16, represented Kano Central Senatorial District in the 7th National Assembly from 2011 to 2015, where he served as Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Works.
President Tinubu noted that Lado made notable contributions to his constituency during his time in the Senate, including facilitating the Kundila Bridge, popularly known as Gadar Lado, in Kano.
“In the several capacities he has found himself, Senator Lado has been very impactful,” the President said.
Tinubu also acknowledged Lado’s service as Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, as well as Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
According to the President, Lado’s work in these positions helped protect vulnerable Nigerians, combat human trafficking and advance the welfare and rehabilitation of displaced persons.
The President further highlighted Lado’s humanitarian contributions through the Ladon Alheri Foundation, which supports initiatives in education, healthcare, women’s economic empowerment, rural water supply and assistance to disadvantaged communities.
Tinubu commended Lado’s commitment to public service and loyalty to the Renewed Hope administration, noting his contributions to strengthening democratic governance and fostering cooperation between the Executive and the legislature.
“As Senator Lado attains 60, I commend his commitment to public service, loyalty to our Renewed Hope administration and invaluable contributions to strengthening democratic governance in Nigeria,” the President stated.
He wished the presidential aide good health, wisdom and strength as he continues to serve the country.
