The Edo Police Command says it has arrested 11 students of Ambrose Alli University (AAU) over alleged cultism, criminal conspiracy and illegal possession of firearms.
The Police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi disclosed this at a briefing in Abuja.
He said that the arrest followed credible intelligence carried out on cult activities in the area by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT).
Adejobi said that the suspects have confessed to being members of the cult group, Black Axe Confraternity.
Items recovered included two AK47 riffles, three pump action short guns, one locally made pistol, two AK47 magazines, and 22 live rounds of AK47 ammunition, according to the force spokesman.
He confirmed others to be 17 rounds of K2 live ammunition and three live cartridges.
