Popular Television network, Arise TV has come under fire on social media for spreading fake news against the All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday.
In a live broadcast on the station, it announced an untrue information off a doctored press release, claiming it came from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which the body has come out to refute as fake.
The fake press release which the station gave a broadcast to was titled: ‘CERTIFIED TRUE COPY OF ORDER OF CRIMINAL FORFEITURE AGAINST APC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE BOLA AHMED TINUBU IN THE UNITED STATES’
INEC, in response, via its Twitter page, alerted the public to disregard the information as it never came from them as escalated by ARISE TV.
Nigerians have since slammed the station for its barefaced bias and hate towards the APC standard bearer which the current event has lended credence to with the station being the only media platform that gave spread to the fake press release.
Tweeps have called them out, demanding heavy sanction be placed on them for their unprofessionalism and lack of due diligence towards information dissemination.
