As Nigerians observe Eid-el-Kabir, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently review and lower the prices of fuel, electricity, and other vital services, citing the severe hardships faced by citizens.
Debo Ologunagba, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, released a statement in Abuja urging Tinubu’s administration to use this festive period as a turning point to reform policies that have led to widespread economic hardship and insecurity. The PDP highlighted the need for selfless leadership, asking Tinubu to dedicate his remaining two years in office to improving the welfare of Nigerians, in accordance with the values of Eid-el-Kabir.
The party decried the “pervading sense of gloom” in the country, pointing to escalating insecurity and economic difficulties that have resulted from what it described as “reckless mismanagement” by the current administration. The PDP also criticized ongoing borrowing practices, demanding a halt to further debt accumulation not linked to beneficial projects.
Additionally, the PDP demanded the recovery of over N30 trillion allegedly stolen through fraudulent oil deals and misappropriated funds under the APC government. The party stressed that these funds should be used for infrastructure development, boosting the productive sector, and enhancing security operations.
The PDP called on Nigerians to remain united and hopeful, sharing with one another and seeking divine intervention. The party concluded by wishing all citizens a happy Eid-el-Kabir and urging continued faith in the nation’s future.
