The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of intentionally neglecting and abandoning the unfinished projects left by his late predecessor, Rotimi Akeredolu. The PDP’s Director of Media and Publicity, Leye Igbabo, issued a statement on Sunday expressing concern that the governor is destroying Akeredolu’s legacy due to political vendetta.
The PDP alleged that Aiyedatiwa boasted about his authority to stop projects that do not please him and suggested that beneficiaries should finance their completion. The party warned that such actions undermine the government’s continuity principle and damage public infrastructure.
In a swift rebuttal, the All Progressives Congress (APC) media director, Steve Otaloro, called the PDP’s accusations unfounded and politically motivated. He stressed that Governor Aiyedatiwa, who served as deputy governor under Akeredolu, is committed to completing all inherited projects. Otaloro pointed to the recent commissioning of the Oda Road in Akure as evidence of ongoing progress.
He also criticized the PDP for spreading disinformation after their failed attempts to overturn the 2024 governorship election results and urged the opposition to focus on internal party issues rather than misleading the public.
This exchange reflects the heightened political tensions in Ondo State as both parties contest the narrative around governance and development legacies.
