The All Progressives Congress (APC) and Nigeria’s political community have been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Jesutega Onokpasa, a renowned lawyer, political analyst, and staunch party loyalist.
The news of his demise was confirmed on Tuesday by Okezie J. Atañi, a pro-APC campaigner, who announced the tragic development via his social media handle. While the exact cause of death remains undisclosed at the time of this report, the passing of the vocal political commentator has sent shockwaves across the nation’s political landscape.
Onokpasa was an active member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council during the 2023 general elections, where he served on the party’s Publicity Committee. He gained widespread recognition for his unwavering defense of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, frequently appearing on television to articulate and justify government policies.
However, in a surprising turn of events, the late legal practitioner recently withdrew his support for Tinubu’s potential re-election bid in 2027. He cited escalating insecurity, economic hardship, and the alleged marginalization of loyal party members as reasons for his decision.
As of now, the APC has not released an official statement regarding his death.
