In a significant development following the viral spread of a video allegedly showing Pastor Paul Adefarasin holding a firearm, the Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church has voluntarily surrendered to the Lagos State Police Command for questioning.
The Lagos police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this information through a WhatsApp message to our correspondent, emphasizing the principle that “No one is above the law!”
The video, which emerged online last week, depicts Pastor Adefarasin holding what appeared to be a metallic object during an interaction with a content creator on a busy Lagos road. The footage quickly gained traction on social media, with many users claiming the pastor was brandishing a gun.
Reacting to the allegations, Pastor Adefarasin issued a statement to his congregation via social media last Saturday, clarifying that the object was not a firearm and that he did not aim it at anyone. He described the entire episode as a misunderstanding.
CSP Hundeyin’s message further revealed that Pastor Adefarasin is currently being interrogated by detectives at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja. The police have launched an official investigation into the case, particularly noting that the pastor was driving an unregistered vehicle at the time the video was recorded.
The police spokesperson assured the public that the results of the investigation would be disclosed to maintain transparency and uphold justice.
