The Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, has said that the scale and pace of infrastructure development under the Renewed Hope Agenda reflect the administration’s commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians.
During the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Tour in Benue State, Olusegun said that members of the delegation witnessed firsthand the significant progress being made on several strategic projects, including the Enugu–Akwanga Super Highway, the Buruku Bridge, and the Buruku Water Treatment Facility.
According to him, many parts of the state have effectively become construction sites due to the volume of ongoing infrastructure projects.
“The entire city is more or less like a construction site. We visited the Enugu–Akwanga Super Highway, a 160-kilometre road that has reached an advanced stage of construction, and we also inspected the Buruku Bridge,” he said.
Olusegun noted that the Buruku Bridge, which will link Nigeria’s North Central and North-East regions, is expected to significantly improve transportation and save lives. He recalled reports from local residents about the dangers commuters previously faced while crossing the river, leading to numerous fatalities.
He disclosed that officials from the Federal Ministry of Works informed the delegation that the bridge project commenced in 2023 under the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund.
“We heard from the locals about the number of lives that have been lost trying to cross the river. With this bridge coming on stream, that challenge will become a thing of the past,” he stated.
The presidential aide also said the delegation visited the Buruku Water Treatment Facility, another government project, as well as newly established industrial facilities, including a brewery and an orange processing factory, which he described as products of the current administration’s industrialization efforts.
He maintained that the projects demonstrate how savings from the removal of fuel subsidy are being channelled into critical infrastructure and development initiatives.
“We are seeing what the savings from subsidy removal are doing in the lives of ordinary Nigerians. These are projects that will have direct economic and social impacts on the people,” he said.
Assessing the quality and progress of the projects, Olusegun expressed satisfaction with the level of work, saying it reflects President Tinubu’s determination to deliver infrastructure that will benefit Nigerians for generations.
He also credited increased revenue allocations to states with enabling governors, particularly those under the All Progressives Congress (APC), to undertake ambitious development projects aligned with the President’s vision.
“We are glad about the state of work and about seeing taxpayers’ money put to good use. We will report our findings to Mr. President, but so far, we are impressed with what we have seen,” he added.
Olusegun revealed that the one-kilometre Buruku Bridge is expected to be completed in 2028 and expressed optimism that the team would return for its commissioning. He noted that the bridge would strengthen connectivity between Benue, widely regarded as Nigeria’s food basket, and the southern parts of the country.
On President Tinubu’s legacy, Olusegun argued that the administration is redefining governance through investments in infrastructure, education, agriculture and water resources.
He contrasted the current administration’s performance with previous governments, stating that the Renewed Hope Agenda is laying the foundation for long-term national development.
“President Tinubu is transforming Nigeria through sustainable infrastructure and development across critical sectors. His vision is to ensure that development is not concentrated in only a few major cities but reaches every state of the federation,” he said.
He further commended the quality of materials and engineering standards being deployed on the projects, expressing confidence that the infrastructure would serve Nigerians for decades with minimal maintenance.
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors Tour is designed to showcase ongoing projects and programmes of the Tinubu administration while engaging citizens on the impact of government policies across the country.
