The Appeal Court, Abuja Division, on Friday, affirmed the victory of Governor Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party in the March 18 governorship election in Bauchi State.
The panel of three justices in a unanimous judgment upheld the decision of the Bauchi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which dismissed the petition of the APC candidate, Sadiq Abubakar challenging the outcome of the election. There was no award of cost as the court ruled that each party to the matter should bear their costs.
Bala Mohammed polled 525,280 votes to defeat Sadiq Abubakar, former chief of air staff, who secured 432,272 votes in the governorship election.
P.T. Kwahar, Chairman of the three-man panel Bauchi State election petition tribunal while reading the unanimous of the lower Court had declared that the petitioners failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt the alleged manipulation of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in the election.
