The Nigerian Army has achieved fresh gains in the ongoing fight against terrorism and banditry, disrupting attempted attacks, rescuing abducted civilians, and recovering ammunition across multiple states in Nigeria within 24 hours.
In Kebbi State, soldiers under Operation FANSAN YAMMA responded to a 7:30 pm distress call from Dundaye village, Augie Local Government Area. Two civilians had already been killed and cattle rustled before the army arrived. Although contact was not made with the fleeing terrorists, continuous patrols are in place.
Troops in Katsina State also engaged in late-night operations in Layin Minista village, Malumfashi Local Government Area. Terrorists abducted two women but fled immediately after sighting the soldiers from 17 Brigade.
In Edo State, the 4 Brigade under Operation MESA conducted a midnight search-and-rescue operation at Ugboha, Esan South-East Local Government Area. One civilian kidnapped on August 27 while heading to his farm was freed and is being reunited with his family.
Niger State operations further yielded success as troops at the Forward Operating Base in Babanna retrieved a magazine loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition, abandoned by terrorists.
The military assured Nigerians of its sustained commitment. “Our troops remain resolute in their mandate to safeguard citizens and deny criminals the freedom to operate,” a source emphasized.
