An independent investigative reporter, Dr. Kemi Olunloyo has revealed that the controversial journalist, David Hundeyin, has been rejected an asylum bid by the United Kingdom.
Reporting this on Twitter, Dr. Olunloyo wrote that David Hundeyin’s application “based on Nigeria’s anti-gay law” did not convince British Immigration and therefore was turned down.
The self-acclaimed journalist further revealed that David Hundeyin is stranded in his hiding place in a “West African Safe in the Republic of Benin”, a country whose Nigerian ambassador is the former Chief of Army Staff the controversial journalist, Hundeyin, accused of masterminding the #EndSars Lekki Toll Gate incident.
Calling the hiding controversial journalist “not intelligent”, Dr. Olunloyo seems to suggest that Hundeyin’s cover has been blown, and his arrest and repatriation imminent.
It is unclear why David Hundeyin may have filed asylum claims over anti-gay legislation given his self-admitted sexuality as a heterosexual and a short marriage that ended in a dramatic divorce, although reports are rife of Nigerians hiding under such pretenses to gain entry into the West.
Hundeyin, who continues to attract controversy on social media with his incendiary posts, has authored several articles roundly criticized by media professionals as failing the ethics of the profession given its blatant bias, lack of editorial balance, and alleged manipulation of data to arrive at a determined conclusion.
He was also roundly dismissed and disparaged when, weeks back, he doubled down on uncorroborated allegations that Kiki Mordi, the lead star of the BBC documentary ‘Sex for Grades’ that revealed the sexual harassment female students are subjected to on university campuses across Africa, slept with the producers of the media outlet to secure the role.
Hundeyin routinely pushes back against such criticism as the products of envy and an attempt by old gatekeepers of the profession to prevent the emergence of new actors. He has yet to react to Dr. Olunloyo’s allegations at press time.
