Despite posting a much improved performance, the Super falcons suffered another defeat in their second friendly against current world champions USA in Washington DC.
The Falcons were defeated 4-0 by the Americans in the first friendly in Kansas City last week.
This time however, the nine-time African champions put up an improved display with Falconets defender Tosin Demehin solid in the heart of the defence even though she netted an own goal in the 25th minute.
The falcons in the scored to break the over 800 minutes of football old clean sheet streak which the USA had been on for several months.
Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie then pulled off a string of saves to deny the Americans from adding to their lead.
Mexico-based striker Uchenna Kanu drew the Falcons level in the 49th minute to reward their improved showing.
It was only the second time this year that USA will concede a goal.
However, the USA fired the winning goal in the 67th minute through a header to deny Nigeria a result against them.
