A Federal High Court in Port Harcourt has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to de-recognize three National Assembly candidates of the Labour Party, LP, in Rivers State.
The decision was made on Friday after PDP had taken the LP candidates to court over alleged non-compliance to the new Electoral Act by Labour Party in the conduct of the primaries that produced the candidates.
The candidates affected are those of Obio-Akpor federal constituency and the Port Harcourt federal constituencies 1 and 2.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Stephen Daylop-Pam, in his judgment agreed with the claim of the PDP in its originating summons that the primaries of the Labour Party were not monitored by INEC.
However, LP said that it will appeal the verdict of the court.
