The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged Nigerians to vote for leaders that will unite the nation.
He added that the people should vote for leaders who would take advantage of the rich, multi-cultural heritage and language to unify the country.
Sanwo Olu said this at the opening Ceremony of the 35th National Festival of Arts and Culture (Eko-NAFEST 2022), with the theme: ‘Culture and Peaceful Coexistence’ with the festival aimed to showcase Nigeria’s rich and diverse cultural heritage, and unite the people.
Sanwo-Olu said: “This is the campaign season and political office holders continue to engage the electorate. It is therefore important to re-echo the message of unity and peaceful co-existence, which the NAFEST platform provides.
Meanwhile, the state commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf said that NAFEST will help to present opportunity to show the world the cultural excellence of Lagos.
She said: “Lagos prides itself as a peaceful state, known for co-habiting and co-existing in unity. Despite the differences in ethnicity and languages; Lagos remains a reference point for what an ideal state exemplifies.
