After a shambolic and disappointing presidential campaign rally in Lagos, supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party who were mobilized for the rally have exposed the lack of integrity within the party’s leadership after it promised them monetary payment for their presence at the rally but failed to deliver on its promise.
Recall that the party has been embroiled in a leadership crisis that centres around lack of integrity with the party’s ntional chairman, Iyorchia Ayu accused of irregularities and failure to keep to agreement which has polarized the party, given rise to aggrieved state governors known as the G-5.
In a video that has gone viral online, supporters of the party who claimed to be from Ifako-Ijaiye Ward C in Lagos can be seen furious while narrating how they were betrayed by the leadership of the party who left them stranded and not even water was offered to them for their presence.
A man in the video said, “We were mobilized to the venue and we didn’t even drink pure water, we didn’t drink anything, they just brought us here and abandoned us, this is PDP Lagos state, ifako ijaiye ward c, they no give us anything, no water, nothing nothing.”
Another woman in the video interjected and could be heard saying in pidgin, “Since 7’o clock when we don dey work, we no see money, since 6am”.
Prior to now, questions have been raised about the integrity of leaders the PDP are bringing on board to rule the country.
Since the primary elections, the party has been grappling with integrity issues as its leadership keeps reneging on agreements made with members and stakeholders of the party.
Nigerians have since expressed their discontent with such profile of leadership made worse by its flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar who has also has integrity allegations hovering over him and has demonstrated ineptitude at resolving the crisis within its party and yet claim he can resolve that of Nigeria.
