The Presidential Campaign Council PCC of the All Progressives Congress APC has charged Nigerians to contempt Pastor Tunde Bakare over his political utterances, describing him as a political paperweight who deserves no attention.
Bakare who is the Presiding Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church (formerly Latter Rain Assembly), contested in the presidential primary election of the APC in 2022 but lost out to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
In his state-of-the-nation address on Sunday, the cleric told Nigerians to disregard those promoting ‘emilokan’, vaunted by Tinubu and which means “my turn” in Yoruba
According to him, no good politician seeking the votes of the people would evade public debates and also task his team members with the task of answering questions specifically directed at himself.
Reacting to his statement, the Director, Special Media Projects/New Media at the PCC recalled the political failure of the pastor, saying
“Bakare got zero votes at the convention”, said Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, Director, Special Media Projects/New Media.
Also reacting, the Special Adviser, Media, Communications and Public Affairs at the PCC, Mr Dele Alake describes he cleric as both a political paperweight and a political neophyte.
He added, “This is a man who did a video in his church asking his members to vote for Tinubu, then the next day, he does the opposite. For us, that is not a serious issue.
“With due respect to him, he is a political paperweight, a political neophyte “, said Mr Alake.
