The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has disclosed that agency employees intervened during an accident at the Moshalashi Roundabout in the Lagos neighborhood of Iyana-Ipaja to save three people who were critically injured.
The agency disclosed this on Monday in a statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Mr Adebayo Taofiq, noting that there were three victims (two men and one woman) and that the tragedy was caused by overspeeding, according to a preliminary inquiry.
One of the passengers who was saved, according to the statement, was discovered in possession of more than 100 baby diapers and a sizable amount of cash. He or she has now been turned over to the police for additional questioning.
The statement read, “Those rescued 3 accident victims were immediately rushed to different Hospitals by their relatives but, unfortunately, one of the rescued accident victims (male) reportedly died along the road to the hospital.
“Those vehicles involved in the accident were immediately removed from the road to avoid impeding the free flow of traffic and handed over to Policemen from Gowon Estate Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigations.
“One of the passengers inside the commercial tricycle involved in the accident was caught with more than 100 pieces of used small children ‘Diapers Pampers’ with a huge sum of money of different denominations was immediately handed over to Policemen at the scene of the accident.”
