Vice-President, Kashim Shettima has asserted that unity is imperative for development in the country.
The Vice President called on Nigerians to support the government, regardless of partisan, religious, ethnic, or sectional differences.
Shettima conveyed this message while hosting the leadership of the 10th House of Representatives, led by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.
In a statement released by the Director of Information in the Vice President’s office, Mr. Olusola Abiola, Shettima emphasized the President’s determination to redefine modern leadership.
He commended the President’s competence, capability, and commitment while urging the Speaker and esteemed House leadership to lend their support to the President in his noble objectives of transforming the nation.
Shettima stated, “The state of affairs in our country requires that we coalesce into a single force, irrespective of differences in political affiliations, religious persuasions, tribal, and sectional backgrounds because what binds us together supersedes what divides us.”
He further emphasized the challenges of dismantling the strong foundation that unites the nation, highlighting the diversity and shared destiny of the people.
Shettima called for collaboration and unity, stating, “We are essentially one people tied to a common destiny, so let’s work together. We need this country to work, and this government is willing to work for the good of the nation.”
In response, Speaker Abbas assured the Vice President of the House’s support for all Federal Government programs and policies, expressing their willingness to partner and collaborate on matters in the interest of the Nigerian public.
The Speaker was accompanied by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Majority Leader Halims Abdullahi, Chief Whip Bello Kumo, Deputy Chief Whip Adewunmi Onanuga, Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda, Deputy Minority Leader Aliyu Madaki, Minority Whip Ali Isah, and Deputy Minority Whip George Ozodinobi.
