Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 presidential elections, has yet again become the butt of criticisms after blatantly taking sides with the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB in their continued notorious efforts to perpetrate mayhem in the South-East.
Taking to his Twitter account on Thursday after a prolonged silence on the group’s renewed killings and illegal movement restrictions in the eastern region, Obi defended the group’s innocence, quoting a purported denial previously issued by a faction of the deadly group.
“Also disturbing is the continued disruption of business and social activities in the South East region over the Sit-at-Home directive purported to be coming from the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, when the body has publicly denied issuing such directive,” Obi said.
The tweet has since sparked reactions with many of Obi’s supporters left disappointed with their principal’s reluctance to condemn the disaster in the region, merely describing it as ‘continued disruption of business and social activities’.
Some others expressed relief and gratitude that Obi was not elected as President as it would have been a colossal mistake to place a person who publicly defends a proscribed terrorist group in the highest office in the land.
