The cultural heart of Ijebu Ode beat strongly on Sunday, June 8, 2025, as the Ojude Oba Festival unfolded with its usual grandeur. Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun made a notable appearance, donning a traditional Yoruba dansiki that captured the festival’s spirit.
A video posted by the governor on his official X page showcased him in the flowing garment, complemented by a Yoruba cap that added a touch of regal finesse. His confident and graceful bearing reflected the pride of the Ijebu people in their cultural heritage.
Governor Abiodun’s message accompanying the video read: “We are getting set as we step out to join our people in celebrating this year’s Ojúde Ọba Festival — a timeless tradition that showcases the rich cultural heritage, unity, and pride of Ijebuland.”
He also highlighted the importance of the monarch in the festivities, saying, “As always, we look forward to honouring our revered monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, GCON and celebrating with the good people of Ijebuland in grand style.”
The Ojude Oba Festival, held annually on the third day after Eid-al-Adha, is a cherished event that celebrates the Awujale of Ijebuland and the rich traditions of the Yoruba people.
