The vice-presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Lawal Musa Daura, has declared that President Bola Tinubu can be defeated in the 2027 presidential election, asserting that he knows the President personally and is not intimidated by him.
Daura, a former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) who served under the late President Muhammadu Buhari, made the remarks on Monday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.Asked whether Tinubu could be beaten at the polls, Daura responded affirmatively: “Very well.”He argued that the current administration has made “several errors” that could create an opportunity for opposition candidates.
“President Bola Tinubu is not a stranger to me. Even though he is the leader, the Commander-in-Chief, we are friends. We know ourselves very well,” Daura said.He also suggested that some statements and actions attributed to Tinubu do not necessarily reflect the President’s actual position.
Reflecting on his tenure under Buhari, Daura said, “I do miss Muhammadu Buhari. I took bullets for him.”He criticised sycophants who surrounded the former president, accusing them of betraying Buhari’s trust and taking advantage of his administration.
Daura urged Nigerians to support the Makinde-Daura ticket, describing their partnership as a pair that shares the same passion for Nigeria. “One of our mottos is that we are resetting this country,” he said.
