In a special Father’s Day message delivered on Sunday in Abuja, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady, called on the public, especially women, to provide men with the necessary support and conducive environment to perform their duties as fathers effectively.
Marking International Father’s Day—a day dedicated to recognizing the importance of fatherhood and paternal influence—Senator Tinubu praised Nigerian fathers for their commitment to nurturing responsible and compassionate children. “I salute all Nigerian fathers who dedicate themselves to raising confident, responsible, and compassionate children,” she remarked.
She also extended her appreciation to men who assume fatherly roles through mentorship and community leadership, recognizing their vital contributions. “I also celebrate the men who step into fatherhood roles through mentorship, guardianship, and community leadership,” she said.
The First Lady highlighted the positive impact of involved fathers on family cohesion and national development. “When fathers are involved, families grow stronger, and so does the nation,” she noted.
She concluded by invoking God’s blessings on fathers, praying for their strength and fulfillment. “God bless all fathers, strengthen you in your responsibilities, and reward your labour with peace, joy, and fulfillment,” she affirmed.
