In response to the recent killing of 12 travellers in Plateau State, President Bola Tinubu has condemned the incident, labelling it “unacceptable and barbaric.” The attack targeted wedding guests travelling from Zaria, Kaduna State, to Jos, Plateau State, leaving several dead and others injured.
A statement from Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, outlined the President’s directives to the Nigerian Police Force and other security agencies to ensure the perpetrators are swiftly apprehended and face justice.
Tinubu called for composure among citizens, promising that the government would not allow the crime to go unpunished. He also urged the Plateau State government to take strong measures to address and prevent further cycles of violence.
Emphasizing the right to freedom of movement, Tinubu stated that the government would not tolerate any group or individual attempting to undermine this fundamental liberty through violence.
The President extended his sympathies to the families of the victims and the governments of Kaduna and Plateau States, reiterating his administration’s dedication to safeguarding all Nigerians.
