A former Labour Party chieftain, Kenneth Okonkwo, has criticized Peter Obi and his political movement, claiming that the Labour Party is now filled with people seeking personal gain rather than genuine reform.
In a video trending across social media, the Nollywood actor described Obi’s associates as opportunists and self-serving individuals. According to him, the movement has lost focus and direction.
Okonkwo, who was once one of Obi’s strongest supporters during the 2023 elections, said he decided to leave the Labour Party after observing “indecision and disorder among its leaders.” He alleged that Obi surrounds himself with politicians who are not loyal to any cause but only chase financial benefits from various political parties.
The actor revealed that he was once considered for the position of Labour Party national chairman but rejected the offer, noting that it would have been politically insensitive since both he and Obi are from the South East.
His comments have sparked intense reactions online, with many users interpreting his statements as further proof of growing disunity and instability within Obi’s political camp.
