The City Boy Movement has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s youth-centred policies, particularly the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), are reshaping the political landscape among young Nigerians and positioning the All Progressives Congress (APC) for victory in the 2027 presidential election.
The group made the declaration on Tuesday during the second day of its National Retreat in Abuja, where delegates from across the country converged under the theme, “Youth, Unity, Action,” to strategise on grassroots mobilisation, youth participation, and strengthening support for the Tinubu administration ahead of the next general elections.
Speaking at the retreat, the Lagos State Youth Leader of the City Boy Movement and APC candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Kosofe Constituency, Dr. Seriki Murtala, said the gathering was designed to consolidate youth backing for President Tinubu’s reforms and showcase the impact of policies targeted at improving the lives of young Nigerians.
According to Murtala, flagship initiatives such as NELFUND, alongside programmes focused on education, empowerment, entrepreneurship, and youth development, have opened new opportunities for Nigerian youths and reinforced confidence in the administration’s vision.
“The government of President Bola Tinubu is committed to building a stronger Nigeria where young people are at the centre of development and are the greatest beneficiaries of its policies,” he said.
He disclosed that participants at the retreat reviewed strategies for expanding youth engagement nationwide, intensifying grassroots mobilisation, and sustaining support for policies they believe will secure a better future for the country’s youth population.
Expressing confidence in the APC’s prospects in the 2027 presidential election, Murtala argued that the ruling party had drawn valuable lessons from previous electoral contests and was better positioned to retain power.
The retreat brought together national and state directors of the City Boy Movement from across the federation, with deliberations focused on strengthening the movement’s political structures, expanding its grassroots network, and mobilising young Nigerians in support of President Tinubu’s re-election bid.
