Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has transformed every state in Nigeria into a bustling construction site through an unprecedented wave of massive infrastructure projects.
Speaking during a weekend inspection of the flagship Calabar–Ebonyi–Benue–Kogi–Nasarawa–Abuja Superhighway, Umahi said the sheer scale of road construction and infrastructure development across the country proves the President’s commitment to inclusive growth and ending the long-standing marginalisation of the Southeast.
The minister challenged journalists to tell the real story, pointing to the security improvements, commercial boom and economic vitality these roads are unlocking. “When Sokoto becomes very close to Ebonyi, when Calabar becomes very close to Kebbi… should we not be bold enough to tell the story?” he asked.
Umahi noted that his appointment as Works Minister was intentional – a move by Tinubu to bring the Southeast into the centre of national development. He reeled off ongoing projects: the Aba-Ikot Ekpene carriageway nearing completion, massive roadworks across the Southeast, and the superhighway’s 125.5-kilometre Ebonyi section from Ndibe Beach through Onueke to Ezza North.He added that an 8.9-kilometre realignment bypassing Afikpo is underway, along with dual carriageways, flyovers at Onueke and Ukwuachi, and beautification works in Abaomege. The Ezza people, he said, are major beneficiaries.
With every state now a construction site, Umahi urged Nigerians to back the administration and witness the transformation firsthand.
