FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has dismissed opposition figures Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi as mere “content creators” with no serious political plan, while declaring that President Bola Tinubu will secure the easiest victory of his career in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking during a press briefing on Tuesday, Wike mocked the opposition coalition led by the former Vice President and the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, branding them “professional content creators” whose only impact is trending hashtags and social media clips. “If governance was based on YouTube views and X followers, they would’ve been presidents ten times,” Wike declared. He accused them of deceiving Nigerians with slogans instead of offering workable solutions, describing the coalition as an “audio gathering of expired politicians”.
Wike contrasted the upcoming election with 2023, which he described as a difficult period for Tinubu. “But 2027 will be different,” he said, arguing that the opposition is now “crippled, homeless, no feather”. “To remove a government, you need a strong, vibrant opposition that has spent over four years planning, not one that is constantly looking for a party to join”.
He dismissed the Atiku/Amaechi and Obi/Kwankwaso tickets as incapable of defeating Tinubu/Shettima, accusing Obi of playing “politics of sentiment” and Atiku of being an unserious candidate. Wike was emphatic: “If it is this 2027 election against Bola Ahmed Tinubu, forget it. It’s over”.
