A Federal High Court sitting in Asokoro, Abuja, has slammed a ₦100,000 cost on Serah Ibrahim, a known supporter of Peter Obi, after she failed to appear in a defamation suit filed by Nana Adeyanju, the wife of activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju. The ruling, delivered by Justice M. I. Tanko on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, in Suit No. CV/3405/2025, marks the latest twist in a bitter legal feud that has dragged the former Labour Party presidential candidate’s name into a messy social media war.
The court had scheduled the matter for cross-examination of the claimant, but Ibrahim’s defence counsel was absent. Instead, the defence sent a letter dated October 9, 2026, seeking another adjournment—a move the claimant’s lawyers, Josephine Amough and Cindy Abara, fiercely opposed, arguing it was a deliberate delay tactic, especially since the defence had pulled a similar stunt on the previous adjourned date. They urged the court to award ₦200,000 in costs, but Justice Tanko settled on ₦100,000, ordering Ibrahim to pay before the next hearing.
The case has been adjourned to November 24, 2026, for the definite cross-examination of Nana Adeyanju, with the claimant’s team also seeking permission for a virtual hearing.
The explosive suit stems from a March 4, 2024, post in which Ibrahim mocked Nana Adeyanju’s “desperate search for relevance” and claimed that Peter Obi did not even know her, alleging she had begged people to persuade the former Anambra governor to attend her wedding. Ibrahim also made crude remarks about Nana’s marriage, referring to her as a “TikTok only fans” account. The case continues.
