The Nigeria Police Force will soon decorate top officers who have demonstrated exceptional conduct, courage, and professionalism. This follows approval from the Police Service Commission for their accelerated promotion.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, through his spokesman, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the event reflects a new era of merit-based advancement.
In a detailed announcement, the Force disclosed that “officers whose conduct, courage, and character have stood out in service to the nation” would be recognized with new ranks in a formal decoration ceremony.
Among the honorees are CSP Shaba Aliyu and SP Sentome Obi—both recipients of the Police Officer of the Year award for 2023 and 2024 respectively. They are now promoted to the ranks of Assistant Commissioner and Chief Superintendent.
The ceremony will be held at the IGP Smart Conference Room in Abuja, on August 5 by 12 noon.
Special honors will also include logistical arrangements and a show of symbolic appreciation. Photographs of the officers have been positioned at major police command offices across the country as a mark of distinction.
Adejobi concluded by reinforcing the IGP’s commitment to rewarding hard work: “This is your reminder that the job is not thankless. Your integrity will not go unnoticed.”
